How to look for an NHS place

• Use the NHS website’s Find a dentist service, which shows practices and whether they report taking new NHS patients.
• Ask to be placed on a practice’s waiting list where one exists.
• For urgent dental problems outside surgery hours, call NHS 111.

Why places are limited

NHS practices hold contracts that fund a set amount of treatment each year. Once that capacity is used, a practice may not be able to register new NHS patients, even if it would like to.

If you are considering private care

Private dentistry means you pay the practice directly, either per visit or through a monthly plan. Before choosing, it is worth comparing:

• Whether a membership plan would spread the cost of check-ups and hygiene visits.
• Appointment availability, including for dental emergencies.
• How the practice explains treatment options and costs before you commit.

Swiss Cottage (Jubilee line) and Finchley Road & Frognal (London Overground, Mildmay line) are the other nearby stations, which makes us easy to reach from South Hampstead, Swiss Cottage, Belsize Park, Hampstead, West Hampstead and St John’s Wood.
